Corona
Corona is the "next-door neighbor" to Riverside. It is close enough for clients to come to my office, or for me to travel to them. Originally called "South Riverside", it was changed in 1886 to Corona, meaning "crown". This was in reference to Grand Avenue, a circular street 3 miles in diameter that at one time hosted auto races. Did you know that originally it was planned to have oranges grown here, just as in Riverside? However, it became apparent that lemons were more suited to the area. In fact, in 1954 it was named "The Lemon Capital of the World"!

Among the famous people to have lived in Corona is Desi Arnaz. He designed a home and horse ranch in Corona, and after having it built, lived there after his divorce from Lucy for the rest of his life. In 1985, a portion of the ranch was sold, and the Golden California Cheese Factory was constructed. This was near the intersection of Lincoln & Rincon.

While not passing directly through Corona, the famous Route 66 is commemorated here. The two-lane highway running 2,400 miles (which connects Santa Monica, CA with Chicago) was completed in 1938, just after the Great Depression. In Grapes of Wrath, John Steinbeck calls this route "the Mother Road".

Two other important Corona Landmarks are the Corona Heritage Park & Museum, and the Main Corona Public Library. CHP is located right where the Foothill Lemon Company ranch once stood. In fact, Samuel B Hampton (a prominent lemon business entrepreneur at the time) had a homestead built at the base of the foothills, where he lived for a short while. This home now houses the Performing Arts Empire (a dance studio was in session during our visit).
The current Main Street Public Library replaced the Carnegie Library (est 1906) in 1971. Two things struck me when I first entered: First, I was surprised they were open until 8:00 p.m. Second, the place was huge! The only other library I had seen this big was in San Jose, next to my high school.
Norco & Eastvale

Norco, shortened form of "North Corona" is known as "Horsetown, U.S.A." The city blends elements from the Old West with modern facilities, such as fast-food restaurants and colleges. Norco's Best Burgers was formed in 1994. It is a wonderful eatery, with many menu choices. The inside dining is comfortable and cool - a welcoming environment in the hot, sweltering summer months.
Norco College is located near Hamner, a main street in Norco (the other being Sixth). I took some of my bookkeeping classes here, through the Norco campus of RCC, and received my Small Business Accounting certificate here.

While Eastvale is a fairly newly incorporated city, its roots go back to at least 1893, when in the minutes of one the first meetings of the Riverside County Commissioners Board, "East Vale" is listed as one of the 53 school districts. Yeah, I never heard of it before 2010 either, which is when my job as an exterminator had me servicing model homes in the area being built. But it is still an area close enough that I would travel to for clients, and not too far for clients to come to my office if they want a Bookkeeper / Tax Professional who is experienced, honest and trustworthy.
